Why Transportation Technology?

 With four program areas to choose from, a student completing a degree, diploma or certificate program at Blue Ridge Community College will have the skills needed to troubleshoot, repair and maintain a variety of vehicle types.
 
Transportation Technology is suited for technically savvy students who enjoy hands-on work. Students will split their time between the classroom and state-of-the-art laboratories.

About the Programs

Students can follow one of the four program areas to gain knowledge and hands-on training in Automotive Systems Technology, Collision Repair and Refinishing Technology, Alternative Transportation Technology or Automotive Light-Duty Diesel. Students may choose an associate degree program which can be completed in two years or a variety of shorter diploma and certificate programs. Currently enrolled high school students may be eligible for the Career and College Promise (CCP) Programs.

Our Graduates

Graduates of any of the four programs will be prepared to take professional licensure exams and enter careers as entry-level technicians in the transportation industry.  The Automotive Systems Technology Program is NATEF (National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation) accredited training to the MAST (Master Automotive Service Technician) level.
